Rodents have thrived during the pandemic, with the British Pest Control Association reporting an increase in sightings of more than 51%*. As we have retreated from commercial buildings the rats and mice have moved in. Once in-residence they can do considerable damage. Gnawing on electrical cables is common, which can ultimately cause a fire or health and safety risk.
Even where wiring in a building is not old and has been well maintained, a Fixed Wire Test or Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which ideally should be carried out every three to five years anyway, may be particularly advisable this year to ensure your workspace is electrically safe for you and your colleagues to return to work.
